He or she must be 5 years old on or before September 30th of the year in which the parents wish to enroll him/her.

Question:  What is the length of the school day?

The school day begins at 8:30 and dismissal is at 3:00.  Students enter the classrooms around 8:15.

With a few exceptions Guardian Christian Academy follows the same calendar as Chesterfield County.  This allows families with children in both private and public school to enjoy the same holidays.

Question:  Is there a required uniform or dress code?

Guardian Christian Academy has a dress code.  Under the current dress code students are required to wear navy pants, skirts, or shorts of modest length. Tops are short or long sleeved red, white, or light yellow polo shirts. Girls may also wear a school plaid skirt/jumper with a white blouse. A separate dress code applies for special events.

Question:  If the school is in the building of Southside Nazarene Church, will my child be taught Nazarene doctrine?

No, we teach the fundamental beliefs common to evangelical Christians.  There are so many essential truths we commonly.

share that we feel it can be counterproductive to incorporate beliefs which may be devisive.

Question:  Is the hot lunch provided on a daily basis?

Hot lunch is cooked on site on a daily basis.  Students may bring their own lunch or purchase a hot lunch using a prepaid ticket.  Monthly menus are provided to help your family make the choices.

Question:  Do students at GCA take SOL tests?

Although private schools are not required to do SOL testing, we are very aware of the standards.  Most of the SOLs are covered in our curriculum though we do not test specifically for those items.  We do, however, do standardized testing each spring and are pleased with the results.

Newsflash

I would recommend Guardian to anyone.   When we toured we really liked what we saw, what we heard, and that the curriculum was a continuum from preschool through 8th grade.  Most importantly we liked who we met along the way.  Our impressions were accurate, and we have remained at Guardian for the very same reasons we were attracted to it.
