Testimonials

We are in love with our school!  As our son was approaching his kindergarten year, we thought and prayed, long and hard, over the decision to send him to a private school vs. public.  Once I entered the building I knew this was the place for us.  The small class size allows him individual care and attention.  We are amazed at his development and all he has accomplished in such a short time.  Our kindergarten teacher is amazing.  We have a relationship with her because of her love and communication.  We are completely aware of what’s happening weekly in the classroom and are encouraged to participate as much as possible.  GCA is truly a family environment where we feel right at home.  Our family could not have made a more positive decision for our son.  When our daughter is old enough, she’ll be joining our son at GCA!

Childcare

Mission Statement: Guardian Christian Academy provides quality care in a nurturing Christian environment, emphasizing a well-rounded program that encourages the development of strong minds and character.

In September 1999 Guardian Christian Academy began offering full time childcare services to our community. It was our mission to provide top quality and affordable care in a nurturing Christian environment, emphasizing a well-rounded program that encourages the development of strong minds and character. The hours of operation for the center are 6:30 am - 6:00 pm daily.

Children registered in the childcare program can expect the following:

  • Morning snack at 8 am
  • Preschool from 9:30 am - 1 pm
  • Nap time from 1:30 pm - 3 pm
  • Afternoon snack at 3:30 pm
  • Free play and activities from 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm

GCA provides the morning and afternoon snack, as well as the cot for nap time. Parents are expected to make arrangements for lunch by sending one from home, or purchasing a lunch ticket which allows the child to eat our hot lunch. Parents should also send a blanket and pillow for the cot.

The center is equipped with age appropriate tables and chairs, and the rooms are brightly decorated and kid friendly. The playground provides age appropriate gym equipment as well as swings. Mulch creates a resilient surface to minimize possible injury. The Life Center offers a large safe place to play inside when the weather is bad.

While we are regulated by the Virginia Department of Social Services, GCA has opted to apply for a Religious Exemption Certificate rather than a license.

The staff is qualified by study, personality, and experience. Many double as preschool teachers and childcare workers. They are dedicated to the education and care of the children by setting Christian standards and ideals. Continuing education is received from CCCECE, Social Services, PACED, and John Tyler Community College.
