Testimonials

Thank you for this wonderful experience and opportunity.  I think [my child] has a stronger foundation thanks to his time spent at GCA.  I talk about GCA to anyone who will listen.  I cannot say enough good things about you, your staff, and the genuine love and concern you have for the students.  We’ll miss you all next year, but we’ll definitely be back to visit.  Again, thanks for everything!  -Michele Danner

Before & After

In September 1999, along with the preschool childcare program, before and after school services were offered to the community. At that time we had one van that picked up children from two schools in the area. Now we operate two vans, a mini bus, and a full sized school bus to transport children back and forth to school. God has truly blessed us.

The schools that are serviced by this program are:

(subject to enrollment)

  • Jacobs Road Elementary
  • Spring Run Elementary
  • Alberta Smith Elementary
  • Crenshaw Elementary
  • O. B. Gates Elementary
  • Cloverhill Elementary
  • Guardian Christian Academy

Hours of Operation: 6:30 am - 9:00 am ; 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

In the mornings the children gather in a central location to await the departure of their van. It is a time of fellowship: games are played and last minute corrections to homework assignments are made. This is all accomplished under the watchful eye of the morning workers.

In the afternoons children begin arriving back at GCA by 3 pm. The homework room opens, along with the activity rooms for Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth grades. Once a child finishes his or her homework, he or she is released to one of the activity rooms. A snack is served around 4 pm.

On Fridays, the homework room remains closed and everyone enjoys a movie together in one of the activity rooms.

Full time care is available when schools are closed for teacher work days and extended holidays. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Children can bring their lunch from home, or purchase a ticket which allows them to eat the hot lunch prepared at school.

While the program functions under guidelines provided by the Virginia Department of Social Services, GCA opts to apply and receive a Religious Exemption Certificate instead of a license.
